Following a successful launch and strong demand throughout July, Edinburgh’s Lost Shore Surf Resort is extending its ‘Wild Swimming Fridays’ throughout August, giving even more people the chance to experience the growing trend and recognised “blue health” benefits. The new sessions arrive alongside a final call for families to book the resort’s popular Kids Summer Surf Camps before the holidays come to an end.
Taking place every Friday evening throughout August, Lost Shore’s Wild Swimming sessions offer a unique opportunity to experience the physical and mental wellbeing benefits of open-water swimming in the resort’s spectacular 23,000sqm surf lagoon. Fully lifeguarded 45-minute sessions provide a safe and welcoming environment for confident swimmers looking to unwind, reconnect with nature and start the weekend feeling refreshed.
Wild swimming has become one of the UK’s fastest-growing wellness activities, and Lost Shore offers a unique setting to experience these benefits in Scotland’s newest surf destination. The blue health benefits have been linked to reduced stress, improved mood, increased mindfulness and enhanced overall wellbeing.
With the school holidays drawing to a close, families are also being encouraged to snap up the remaining places on Lost Shore’s Kids Summer Surf Camps, running throughout August for children aged 7-16 years. Designed for both beginners and more experienced young surfers, the week-long camps combine expert coaching, confidence-building and plenty of fun in a safe, controlled environment. Boards and wetsuits are provided, with children progressing through structured surf levels as they develop new skills and make new friends.
The camps are led by ISA-qualified instructors and take place Monday to Friday, with sessions tailored to ability levels, making them an ideal way for children to stay active, build confidence and create lasting summer memories before the new school term begins.
Brothers Ben and Matthew took part in the Kids Surf Camps at Lost Shore earlier this year.
Ben, age 13 said: “It’s an amazing camp with super positive coaches who are always genuinely happy for you when you catch a nice wave.”
Older brother Matthew, age 15 added: “You get really good advice and get a lot better quickly, and it’s really fun.”
Lee Wood, Managing Director at Lost Shore Surf Resort, added:
“August is all about making the most of the outdoors before summer comes to an end. Whether you’re looking to experience the wellbeing benefits of wild swimming or give your children an unforgettable week learning to surf, Lost Shore offers something truly unique. We’d encourage people to book soon as spaces are limited.”
Wild Swimming takes place every Friday throughout August, while Kids Summer Surf Camps continue weekly until the end of the school holidays.
